The Ministry of Tourism has outlined plans for a National Digital Tourism Stack and a second version of the Dekho Apna Desh programme.

The ministry's backgrounder reports that tourism contributed 5.22% of gross domestic product and supported 8.46 crore jobs in 2023-24. It also reports 428.55 crore domestic visits, 2.53 crore foreign visits and foreign-exchange earnings of ₹2,76,831 crore in 2025.

Why it matters

A shared digital foundation could make destinations easier to discover, reduce fragmented traveller journeys and give smaller tourism businesses a clearer route into national distribution channels.

SCULTRA point of view

The stack will need clear ownership, interoperable data standards, privacy controls and measurable service outcomes. Adoption by states, operators and local businesses will matter more than the number of features announced.
