Indore Metro has opened an approximately 11-kilometre phase with 11 stations between Super Corridor-3 and Malviya Nagar Chauraha at an estimated cost of ₹2,850 crore.
The government says the operational network now spans about 17 kilometres and 16 stations, with cumulative project costs of roughly ₹4,370 crore.
Why it matters
New rapid-transit capacity can change travel time, access to jobs, congestion, fuel use and urban emissions. Whether those benefits appear depends on service quality and how well the corridor connects with other modes.

Infrastructure completion should be followed by service evidence. The operating record should show ridership, frequency, fare affordability, last-mile access, reliability, accessibility and changes in private-vehicle use.
Limitations
The release provides construction scope and cost estimates but no ridership, service frequency, operating subsidy, final audited cost, modal-shift or emissions data.
