India and Belgium have issued a joint statement following bilateral talks during the Belgian prime minister's 2 to 4 September visit.
The statement establishes a strategic-dialogue mechanism and covers trade, green transition, technology, connectivity, defence, security and people-to-people ties. Belgium also reiterated support for India's permanent membership in a reformed United Nations Security Council.
Why it matters
Belgium connects Indian businesses and institutions with European ports, advanced industry, clean technology and multilateral forums. A regular strategic mechanism can help coordinate issues that sit across commercial and diplomatic portfolios.

The breadth is useful, but commercial significance depends on named projects, responsible institutions, finance, timelines and follow-through. A dialogue mechanism creates a route for delivery; it is not delivery by itself.
Limitations
