India and Afghanistan review trade, banking, visas and cargo links
A joint working group discussed practical barriers spanning customs, finance, pharmaceuticals, agriculture, investment, tariffs and connectivity.
Officials from India and Afghanistan have met virtually through a joint working group on trade, commerce and investment.
The agenda covered customs cooperation, trader visas, banking and finance, pharmaceutical and agricultural trade, energy, investment, tariff concessions, cargo connectivity and the use of ports. The parties also referred to follow-up actions intended to strengthen commercial engagement.
Why it matters
Payment routes, logistics and regulatory clarity can determine whether bilateral commercial demand becomes deliverable trade. These constraints are particularly important for time-sensitive agricultural and pharmaceutical supply chains.
SCULTRA point of view
The agenda identifies real operating bottlenecks. Business relevance will depend on implementable customs, payment, visa and cargo arrangements together with clear sanctions, counterparty and product-compliance pathways.
Limitations
The release records discussions and intended follow-up, not completed agreements or measured changes in trade volume. Organisations should obtain current legal and compliance advice before acting.
