National HPV campaign reports more than 80 lakh doses administered

The Health Ministry says more than 80 lakh HPV vaccine doses have been administered since the nationwide campaign began in February 2026.
The programme offers one free, voluntary dose to 14-year-old girls at government facilities with parental consent. The ministry estimates the annual eligible cohort at about 1.2 crore girls. Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Mizoram reported full coverage of their identified targets, while Uttar Pradesh administered more than 22 lakh doses.
Why it matters
HPV vaccination can reduce future cervical-cancer risk. Public delivery at this scale also affects prevention equity and long-term demand on the health system.

Dose totals are an encouraging operating signal, but performance should be judged through verified cohort coverage, district consistency, safety surveillance and sustained annual delivery.
