Gender Samvaad turns from participation counts to control of rural enterprises
The latest discussion focused on land rights, enterprise governance, financial records and leadership within a movement covering more than 10 crore women.
DAY-NRLM and IWWAGE have held the seventh Gender Samvaad on women's agency and leadership in rural livelihoods.
The government reports more than 6 lakh stakeholders participating, a self-help-group movement of more than 10 crore women and over 3.46 crore Lakhpati Didis earning above Rs 1 lakh annually. Discussion covered women farmers' land rights, natural farming, enterprise governance, financial records and credit readiness.
Why it matters
Moving from programme participation to control over enterprises, assets, finance and decisions can make rural livelihood gains more durable.

Scale is significant, but agency should be measured through ownership, decision rights, sustained income, access to credit and resilience after programme support ends.
