PM-KMY reports nearly 25 lakh farmer enrolments after seven years
The contributory pension scheme reports Rs 540.66 crore used since launch and a minimum monthly benefit of Rs 3,000 from age 60.
A government backgrounder marking seven years of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Maandhan Yojana reports 24,96,252 enrolments by 6 February 2026 and Rs 540.66 crore used since launch.
The voluntary contributory scheme promises eligible small and marginal farmers a minimum pension of Rs 3,000 a month from age 60. New entrants are generally 18 to 40 years old and hold up to two hectares, subject to exclusions.
Why it matters
Formal old-age protection can reduce financial vulnerability among small farmers who often lack employer-backed pensions or substantial savings.

Enrolment is an access measure. Long-term adequacy depends on contribution continuity, dropout rates, inflation-adjusted pension value, claim settlement and fiscal sustainability.
Limitations
The release does not report active versus inactive accounts, contribution defaults, exits, pension payouts, administrative costs or the changing purchasing power of the fixed benefit.
