Coal India reports an early-September production rebound as rainfall eases

Coal India says daily production reached about 1.83 million tonnes on 6 September, compared with an average of 1.36 million tonnes during the rain-affected period from 1 to 3 September.
Power-sector dispatch increased from a 1.37 million-tonne average to 1.70 million tonnes, while overburden removal rose from 2.5 million cubic metres to 5.1 million cubic metres as mining areas and transport routes recovered.
Why it matters
Coal production and dispatch influence fuel availability for thermal power plants, transport demand and the operating performance of India's largest coal producer.

The useful comparison is sustained weekly and monthly output, supported by power-plant inventories, rail and road dispatch, coal quality and environmental performance. One recovery day should not be extrapolated into a trend.
Limitations
The company release compares a three-day average with one later day during weather recovery. It does not establish a durable production trend, and the figures were not independently validated here.
