The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights says a nationwide campaign rescued more than 3,800 children and led to more than 575 first information reports between 12 June and 31 August.
The campaign coordinated state, district, labour and police authorities around identification, rescue and rehabilitation of children found in labour situations.
Why it matters
Rescue is an immediate protection measure. Lasting impact depends on rehabilitation, education, compensation, family support and effective action against employers and traffickers.
