Andhra Pradesh opens ten critical-care blocks and twelve public-health laboratories
The facilities are part of a wider state programme with Rs 1,271.80 crore in approved central support across four health-infrastructure components.
The Health Ministry has inaugurated ten Critical Care Blocks and twelve Integrated Public Health Laboratories across Andhra Pradesh under PM-ABHIM.
The state has approvals worth Rs 1,271.80 crore across four mission components, including 24 critical-care blocks with estimated investment of about Rs 606 crore and 26 laboratories with Rs 32.50 crore allocated. Fourteen of those laboratories were already functional before this batch opened.
Why it matters
Distributed critical-care and diagnostic capacity can improve emergency treatment, outbreak detection and continuity of routine care during public-health shocks.

Infrastructure becomes reliable care only when staffing, equipment uptime, referral networks, laboratory quality and timely reporting operate together.
Limitations
The release reports inauguration and sanction status, not staffing, bed capacity, testing throughput, accreditation, utilisation, patient outcomes or independent readiness audits.
