Indian venture advances a 3D-printed patient-specific bone-graft platform

The Technology Development Board is supporting Ceramat's plan to commercialise customised calcium-phosphate implants for orthopaedic and dental use.

The Technology Development Board has announced financial assistance for Ceramat Pvt Ltd in Palghar to commercialise calcium-phosphate bone grafts, including patient-specific implants.

The platform uses Digital Light Processing and extrusion 3D printing. Its stated material range includes hydroxyapatite, beta-tricalcium phosphate, biphasic calcium phosphate and bioactive glass.

Why it matters

Domestic production of customised biomaterials could reduce reliance on imported implants and improve anatomical fit in complex orthopaedic and dental procedures.
